Bowie was certainly not afraid or deterred by failure. I did a full play-through of his entire discography after he died, the man’s got one of the most impressive “greatest hits” collections ever. But man, there’s a lot of stinkers.

My first concert was Bowie’s Diamond Dogs tour in 1974. I had just turned 14. It was ... very interesting.

...if you don’t think Ziggy Stardust is one of the greatest albums ever, then in the words of Chris Morris, “You’re wrong, and you’re a grotesquely ugly freak.”

Better than anything else he did. I think it was Mick Ronson's influence that made the difference.

Have you ever watched this staged guitar battle between Trevor Boulder and Mick from the Ziggy tour?

Width of a Circle

(about 4 minutes in) Why didn't everybody do something like that?

Brian Eno is the most under-appreciated genius in the music industry. After making Roxy Music stand out he left Ferry's ego and made two magnificent solo albums that defy description: "Here Come the Warm Jets" and "Taking Tiger Mountain (by Strategy)". "Third Uncle" from that album (1974) defines intensity while inventing proto-punk a decade before that was happening. Unfortunately the rest of Brian's albums succumbed to experimentation that eventually made him "Mr. Airport Music Guy".

An extra: Found this band 'Built To Spill' nearly killing themselves covering "Third Uncle" live in Australia.

As a music producer and friend Eno helped David Bowie whenever asked and worked with bands right up to this era. Did the score for a forever unfinished "Dune" movie. Worked with the artist Moebus. It goes on and on. Here's to you, Brian!

Me either. Bowie on the other hand...was alright.

Eno’s Life In The Bush Of Ghosts was amazing.
