These Are the Most Popular Fruit Pies in Every State Does your favorite match your home state?

Whether it's Pi Day, Thanksgiving, or just a Monday, I love finding any excuse to enjoy a big slice of pie. There's just something about digging into that buttery, flaky piecrust with a warm (or chilled) filling. I have yet to meet a pie flavor I don't like, but if given the option, I'll likely go with whatever fruit pie is available. It's even more enjoyable to me if it's some sort of berry pie—especially now that spring is here! Gurney's Seed & Nursery Co. recently revealed the most popular fruit pies by state, and I had to see where my state landed. Spoiler alert: My current state (Iowa) and home state (Missouri) both went to strawberry pie, which I believe is an excellent choice. While there aren't many major head-turners (Thanksgiving cranberry pie sparked confusion last year), the results might surprise you. See which fruit pie your state landed on and whether you agree.

I guess, if they have enough of them, the wineries could either press them for grapeseed oil, or maybe they are good for animal feed?
There are a lot of Americans of Italian extraction around St James. Besides grapes, St James used to be known for the American Flag factory there. I don’t know if it is still in business.

She made both

I had to pick the backyard rhubarb. Loved it stewed, especially cold

And that tomato cucumber salad in vinegar!

I can see her cooking in 3 inch heels even now. Her feet paid for that.

Funny...I watched that last night with my wife, I have the 3D version, and it is beautifully done.

As for the real ones...this is how I make them from scratch!

So good on a hot summer day.
I discovered it in tx, but think it’s a Tennessee thing.

I don't believe the list...I'm in Michigan...I've not only not tasted a cranberry pie, I've never seen one...I've never even seen on in a restaurant...

I'd say there's no doubt the most popular pies in Michigan are apple and cherry...And around Thanksgiving, pumpkin can't be beat...

This “poll” is complete blueschist in any state. I would bet the the most popular pies are apple, blueberry, cherry, pecan and pumpkin in just about any state. Maybe Key Lime for our southern friends.

This past summer, my wife and I were staying up in northern Maine, and we saw this:

Now, they were limited due to the stupid Covid related drop-off in tourism, but they were serving blueberry pie by the slice.

I consider myself somewhat of a pie connoisseur, so for a tourist trap like this, I did not have high hopes.

Good God. Best slice of blueberry pie I have ever had...better than Moodys even, and theirs is pretty good!

Now that is a pie. I don't have cherry trees, or know anyone with cherry trees. I haven't seen sour cherries in the grocery store in years. I guess everyone likes to eat sweet cherries or use that canned stuff to make cherry pies.

Lots of 'em have them frozen...Better than nothing...

I never did either so I went to you tube and watch it made. Way way too much work. I’ll never taste it. After over 50 years on Earth, I can’t say I missed anything.

I agree. Nobody eats grape pie in Pennsylvania. Just about every other kind of pie is popular as anyone who has visited Lancaster County knows. Shoofly pie is delicious.

That’s what I thought...:)

Really. This really touristy-trap looking giant blueberry looking thing (which is like a magnet to my wife and I, we just had to stop!) made me roll my eyes, but...that was a fine piece of pie!

Love Moody’s...:)

Never saw a grape pie in my life. Can’t imagine it being popular in so many states.

Blueberry anyone?

How about blackberry?

Peach?

Apple and Cranberry?

Strawberry is very very low on my list.

3.14159265 is all I can remember.
