Follow up report after 2nd shot of covid-19 vaccine

As promised I am writing a follow up report after receiving the 2nd shot of covid-19 vaccine.

2nd shot was exactly 4 weeks after the first shot. The 1st shot had no effect on me that I could discern. On the day of 2nd shot I felt no effect except felt a little more tired at end of day, and my upper arm at injection site was sore. Next morning I woke up with mild body ache and feeling feverish. I measured my temperature and it was normal. Took a 500 mg Tylenol and that helped a little on the body aches and feverish feeling. Just rested all day and went to bed early. Today is 3rd day after 2nd shot, and body aches are no more. The injection site is much less sore as well. One more day of taking it easy, and will resume my daily Gym routine tomorrow.

I am told by more knowledgeable people that my reaction to 2nd shot indicates the 1st shot worked, and my body recognized the repeat injection of vaccine and mounted a strong response. In other words I may be able to better resist any future attack from the virus. My 81st birthday is next month.

I will do my last follow up after 30 days.

Congrats on your 2nd shot to complete your COVID-19 vaccination. I’ve read this week of a number of people having their appointments for the 2nd shot cancelled due to unavailability of the vaccine. That has to be due to poor supply management. My wife and I are due for our 2nd Moderna shots next Friday and will be highly pissed if they are cancelled.

I got my 1st shot (Moderna) yesterday. Have some small red itchy spots in the area of the shot, but they’re slowly going away. Today it’s arm soreness, headache, and fatigue but not much else.

Ben Stein did a short video on his 2nd shot experience and said it was dreadful. Worst flu ever, trouble breathing, terrible. Of course, he is 76.

I got an email yesterday from Sutter Health (Calif) about all their cancellations of #2 saying they are trying to get back on track. It was weird getting that email as they had not cancelled my #2 which is scheduled for two weeks from Monday. Keeping my fingers crossed that they have the needed inventory when I’m scheduled.

Yes, it was the Moderna vaccine administered at Publix pharmacy in St Augustine, FL.
