>>Anyone else here see Dan Acroyd say “Jane, you ignorant slut!” back when SNL was great?<<
I remember when ALL that was first run. America used to stay up late just to see what outrageous (and hilarious) stuff they would come up with.
And they were equal opportunity mockers. EVERYONE famous was fair game, left or right. Many times celebrities came on and made fun of themselves.
Can you imagine “The Employment Interview” w/Richard Prior being written, much less aired, today? Or in the last 25 years for that matter...?

Our parties would come to a screeching halt at 1130p, everyone would gather around the TV for the best thing on at the time, and it ran 90 minutes.

Oh, duh, a few of the writers contributed to National Lampoon as well. Another great thing from the seventies! I grew up reading Mad, National Lampoon and Hustler. Kinda explains my weird sense of humor... :)
Aside, P.J. O’Rourke is from Toledo, just up the road a bit.

I think the name came from an NYC TV journalist named Roseanne Scamaradilla (sp?).

Can one even imagine what her home life was like?
Being married to Gene Wilder, the 2 of them together and all.
I know there professional persona's are different from reality, but, just imagine.

The slut call by Ankroyd was just the opening. The tirade that followed was priceless.

That was Chico Escuela :-)

and what about the French language.
The French language must be canceled
French create a male and female version for most nouns.
This MUST STOP NOW, I AM TRIGGERED.
Do the French not understand there are about 50 legit genders!

This was my intro to Saturday Night Live. I turned it on after the show started and this was the first piece I saw and being unaware of the type of program it was the piece floored me. A couple of minutes later I realized it was a comedy show and became an avid fan.

The character of Litella was based on a cleaning woman at Studio 8H, according to cast interviews. The woman was very well loved by the cast and writers, and was flattered by the portrayal.
But that never stopped Nazi cancel culture...

My favorite Gilda moment was “Let’s Talk Dirty To The Animals”, from Gilda Live.
She was the best.

Best Garrett Morris moment....
Now, I'd like to speak about the subject of a certain Mick Jagger - of the Rolling Stones. ... And I'm going to talk about the song he sang -- a song in which he sings these very words: "Black girls - just want to have sex - all night long." (Actually the lyrics included the F-bomb)
Now, Mr. Jagger, there is only one question I want to ask you -- Jaggs. ... And you better have the answer, man, you better have the answer, since you have besmirched the character of black women. Therefore, here is my question, Jaggs. [pause, takes off eyeglasses, suddenly drops the pose, pleading] Where are all of these black broads, man? ... [huge cheers and applause] Hey, like, where ARE they, baby? You got any phone numbers for me, baby? ... Please send 'em to me. [puts glasses back on, dignified again] Thank you. ... [enthusiastic applause]

Okay. Just saying, there were a lot of those rhyming names in the seventies. Don’t know about earlier or later.
