Interesting take. I know there are many people who genuinely believe the Q phenomenon is real, and don’t have a beef with them. I’m agnostic on the subject. But, as others here have noted, the farcical “QAnon threat” serves as a very useful bogeyman to distract the gullible masses from the government’s manifest failures.

I remember back in the Clinton years, that The Michigan Militia was the Scary Boogeyman, and the whole Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy tried to take down President Bubba. The reality was one nut-job killed 168 people and even the most active, drilling militiaman likely disagreed with bombing the Murrah Building. However, that act was hung around the neck of the opposition.

It worked. Clinton's 1996 re-election was massive, notwithstanding Perot.

In 2012, Obama didn't have the benefit of a McVeigh or much luck sliming the Tea Party, and while he beat Willard he was one of two Presidents in post-Civil War America to win re-election by a smaller margin than his election margin.

People learn. Qanon is the new Michigan Militia, and the guy who looks like Jamiroqui and Hoover is the new McVeigh. Be prepared for 4 years of this idiocy, because while they fear Q publicly, privately they know it is fangless and love the slime factor and think it'll help Harris.
