> I’m a rock/jazz/blues/country musician with loads of on stage exp. My opinion is there hasn’t been a decent rock song produced in over 20 yrs. Don’t get me wrong, there has been many good pop songs and other genres, but really no great rock tunes at all.

Sadly, I have to agree. There just isn't the interest and support for what we call rock-n-roll (to borrow a line from Dire Straits).

Lots of stuff called music, and some stuff that actually -is- music, but a negligible amount of great rock produced in this century so far. Why do you think everybody with any taste listens to "Classic Rock" stations?

I don't and I can't. As a seasoned musician I constantly need new music. Everything gets played out for me fairly quickly, even stuff that I really really like. My brain constantly needs to hear new stuff and I'm incessantly searching for it. Sometimes I wish I could just be satisfied listening to classic rock stations like most of my family and friends are, but the old stuff is just to mundane and trite for me now. It's almost like a curse but I accept it and I roll with it.

I think back when we were in high school. You always knew on Monday morning, half the students would be wearing the T-shirts of the band that played that weekend. You knew every student’s favorite band, argued about who was the better guitarist, or drummer.

I still laugh because one of my friends, was the most hardcore fan of REO Speedwagon, always wearing their T-Shirts, and then, Hi-Infidelity came out, and they became a “chick band”, and he vowed never to listen to them again, he felt betrayed....we took our music seriously, lol!
