I’d be surprised if there were any Republicans among the members of the Baltimore City School District. Frankly I don’t think Republican-dominant areas are doing much better except for the fact that the parents occasionally pitch a fit at a school board meeting and win a small victory or 2. But those areas are still dealing with state & federal mandates which make no sense and have little to do with basic education.
It was a partnership. The school and your son both deserve some of the credit, but don’t overlook your own contributions, mom.
Besides the fact that the ‘scholar’ was absent 250 days in 3 school years, the ‘tell’ in the story is the school’s name. Augusta Fells Savage Institute of Visual Arts. A public school with ‘Institute’ in its name is not likely to be what you think it is.
OMG!
Read the story. The mother of the student is working 3 jobs. She is a taxpayer. Presumably she is not asking for free stuff, merely asking the public school system to do the job she pays taxes for.
“He has to do 3 more years because he FAILED”
Peeps HAVE to graduate now?
If she had talked to a teacher or looked at report card or something in 4 years,3 jobs or not she would have seen the problem...Bottom line, if the school has chosen not to do their job,a parent has to step in ..She had no idea until 4 years into this ,that there was a problem....
And he can vote in 2022.
She doesn't understand. The Public Schools "job" is to give Democrat teacher union members good paying jobs with good benefits. It sure as hell isn't to educate kids. Hasn't the last year made that plain to everyone?
Yet, I betcha this lady votes for the very politicians who keep her family on this Democrat reservation.
As he aged he was socially promoted. And then he became SEP*.
*: Someone Else's Problem
Ladies and Gentlemen, say hello to the future United States Senator from the Great State of Maryland, Democrat of course.
Why dont they just mail every kid a diploma and mail every teacher a check. At least if they shut down the school they could save money on utilities.
Before the 1960’s,blacks had to fight the KKK,racism and any number of problems to get an education for their kids... BUT THEY DID IT....Now,my kid is failing..How did that happen???I’m sure it’s the schools fault..No,it’s the parents responsibility to get that kid an education...The people at the school will never care about your kid the way you do...
😎
I recently finished an on-line intro course for cybersecurity (I took it mainly out of boredom, the lockdown and all...). it was eight sessions of three-and-a-half-hours each. The ninth and last session there was a final exam. Just prior to the exam, one of the students asked 'what is the network card?'. This after over twenty-four hours of class sessions. I was astounded.
That sounds like something Joe would say.
Ditto that.
And I would venture that the public school system in Baltimore spends just as much per student as any other metropolitan area in the country, if not more. Money is not the problem.
I’m ..... gobsmacked.
