Revenge of the Sussex survivors' club: The extraordinary inside story of how a fairytale turned into a nightmare of 'traumatised' staff - by Royal Editor REBECCA ENGLISH, who saw so much of it herself
UK Daily Mail ^ | March 4, 2021 | Rebecca English

It is the one royal group that no one wants to join. Referred to only half-jokingly as the 'Sussex Survivors' Club', its membership is sadly rising.

But its select band of members have one thing in common: all have worked for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and lived to tell the tale.

Joking aside, some even believe they may have a form of post-traumatic stress, defined by doctors as an anxiety disorder caused by distressing or frightening events.

I’m reminded of the old Bugs Bunny Quote: “Of course you know, this means war.”

Megan and Harry are demanding, fighting, struggling - for respect in their own minds, on their own terms. They are the sort of twits who believe their own propoganda. The UK press, the Queen, and much of the UK - won’t give it to them.

Something will have to give, and It will be their marriage and her mental health. I’m expecting Megan to have a public melt-down and grave mental break-down before too long - all the fault of UK Press and racists everywhere, of course.

“... may have a form of post traumatic stress...”

I’m calling BS to the highest degree. Unless Megan or Harry held a knife to their throats or physically assaulted them then this is just plain old “look at ME” tactics to get famous. Just my two cents.

Yes, the term PTSD is thrown around and cheapened far too much.

By that measure, I would have PTSD from a complete arsehole toxic boss I had some years ago. We’ve all had them.

Perhaps working for the Royals, where one really has to subsume one’s own personality into the protocols and requirements of the job, may make abuse from above a bit tougher to stomach - but only a little bit

Never happen, Harry maybe. That woman is a beast and tough as hell narcassist with zero morals or empathy

She uses and spits people out with abandon.

As a guy it’s baffling to me how Harry chose her out of all the single women available to him. It must confuse a heck of a lot of women too.

Does Markle’s fingers under the chin pose from the interview remind anyone else of the Philosoraptor...?

She chose him .... and set about to be as much like his mother in various ways as she could .... he fell for it. I read an article on this - very enlightening (wish I had the link - it was a while ago).

In this article, it mentions that during the Oprah interview Meghan brings up race in Britain - how predictable .... throwing the race card as a smoke screen to some very bad behavior.

Excellent use of “subsume”. It fits perfectly.

It seems like the servants on staff in the royal household are cut from the same cloth as far as the acceptance of literal subservience as a calling in their lives. To see an outsider (and American!) like Meghan suddenly be in a position of royal authority while disrespecting the larger royal authority is probably a genuine shock to those types.

Sparkles Markle and Ginger Markle are a handful, for sure. Eventually, Ginger will leave Sparkles and reclaim his role as the Prince of Dubious Parentage.

While I understand that living in the Royal bubble has to be a bit constricting at times, the payoff is pretty big. One way that Americans are fundamentally different than Europeans is that we are taught from an early age that all are created equal. We are not taught to be deferential to anyone because of financial or political status. So Meghan comes into the family with her American ways, and thinks she can take on the Queen. This attitude might enhance her popularity in America, where the new prism of race depicts her as the underdog; but in Britain, she is becoming a pariah.

Airing that show on the very same day as the Queen’s speech on Commonwealth Day was planned. Such hate. Big slap on the Queen and all Commonwealth countries. It could have been aired any day but they particularly chose that very day of celebration.

Agreed. Meghan is not unattractive - but Harry could have found a number of other woman who looked just as good (if not better) and who had a better upbringing and outlook.

Harry’s an odd guy though. He’s never much for the Royal Family routine. Maybe marrying Meghan was his way of thumbing his nose at them.

Just Harry had the pick of all of England but it seems it was the women who broke off with him. Maybe they knew that even a crown wasn’t worth it.

Such a man-child. Mental over Chuckles possibly not being his bio father and the loss of Diana. Or drugs. Or stompy pants being the spare.

Last week, a military buddy said he hoped losing everything was worth it. So, he’s not only burned his bridges with the family but also the military.

Inherited both his mother’s low-grade brain power and her emotional instability.
