It looks to be about 350 miles as the crow flies from Pyonyang to the Russian border. 32 hours by train!?
I hope they don’t run into quicksand.
Russian diplomats and family members used a hand-pushed rail trolley to leave North Korea.
I notice they have the seams of their suit cases taped shut in case of rain, I guess.
I remember reading years ago that during a famine the Chinese sent a train load of food. The North Koreans wouldn’t return the train.
I had to go look on the map.
It’s about 260 miles from Pyongyang to the border with Russia.
And it took them 34 hours to get there.
Great transportation system!
Just like James Bond and Tiffany Case in "Diamonds Are Forever".
I’ve heard of going to hell in a handcart, but not of leaving in the same fashion.
I heard that North Korea got one COVID case, and the fellow who had it was shot.
Well, at least his carbon footprint was really low. And as an aside. Can anyone imagine any soy-boy US diplomat doing this?
The fairly short border is all river. There is one rail bridge across it. Dual gauge shows that the picture was taken very near the border. Just past the station and rail yard on the Russian side, it’s only broad gauge. I can’t imagine that that continues very far into North Korea which uses standard gauge. As do China and South Korea.
This is an indication that Russia has lost its earlier status in NK.
The question is: what has China promised?
