The US has been *operating* aircraft carriers for over 100 years now. In that time we have learned some important lessons.
1) The ship doesn’t matter if you don’t have a capable and experienced crew to operate it.
2) The stabilizers are as vital as are the engines. One mistake and your ship flounders.
3) Damage control is as complicated and practiced as a symphony.
4) Flying things must be intercepted from hundreds of nautical miles out and that interception doesn’t stop as they get closer. Layered defense.
5) Without a capable fleet group, aircraft carriers are just a sitting duck.
