Judy here there is an organization called POP, Pets over Population. People (like my son) capture the feral cats that are hanging around the neighborhood and POP will neuter them. This is how they will be able to control the population of them. They can’t reproduce. My son then feeds them. Some will become house cats but some remain outdoors. And yes just like any pet that is outdoors there is the risk of being run over.

Well that sounds better than what this lady described to me. I got the impression they spayed them to decrease the future numbers, but the cats pretty much fended for themselves after that, which is what I thought was less kind than putting them out of their misery. If they become house cats, that’s great, but I don’t see the point of keeping them alive if they’re living in the downtown of a city, in abandoned buildings, especially in the winter. Good for your son for feeding them, though.
