Columbia professor: I do heroin regularly for ‘work-life balance’
Carl Hart is a Columbia University professor of psychology and neuroscience. He chairs the psych department and has a fondness for heroin – not only as a subject of scholarly pursuit but also as a substance for personal use.
At 54, the married father of three has snorted small amounts of heroin for as many as 10 days in a row and enjoyed it mightily – even if, as he recalls in his new book “Drug Use for Grown-ups: Chasing Liberty in the Land of Fear” (Penguin Press), he’s experienced mild withdrawal symptoms “12 to 16 hours after the last dose.”

He should be arrested and fired.
...”work-life balance...”
These Lefty dipsh*t continually come up with the lamest ways of expressing stuff, omfg.
I’ve thought about H but I wont touch it and here’s why. I had a talk with an addict and he told me this about H: “Imagine this...this is what H is like...you could be under an overpass and be cold, wet, and depressed on a dark, rainy night and do a hit and everything would be juuuust fine.” Screw that! I’ve also seen heroin withdrawal first hand. Anyone who advocates that this drug is safe for regular use...well they are simply wrong. Dead wrong.
Excellent point
Here most H is cut with pinkie
Slang for fentanyl here
H turns pink when being prepared for injection when fentanyl is present
It’s killed several folks I knew of
"Heroin is a synthetic substance that uses opium as it’s the primary active ingredient. The manufacturing process dictates manufacturers convert the opium into pure morphine, which then turns into chemically-changed heroin. The process produces a substance that has a higher level of potency than the opium extract. The higher potency leads to more euphoria and eventually, more significant problems."
Ditto for alcohol and tobacco. What of it?
This won't last long. Massive heart attack incoming in 3...2...
You're right.
Junk is gnarly. It never fails to kill you and steal your soul
Junkies say “ a fate worse than death “
Good luck playing with death. Commie
“Balance.” Yeah, that’s the ticket.
Addicted and loving it. 😏
I knew lots of them too, years ago. So many talented people long gone now.
Some were able to kick it but AIDS caught up with them and they died.
Some people can try it and walk away. An addict would be hooked after one try. But he does seem to be going to lengths to rationalize it.
Holmes poison was cocaine. Where did they get heroin from?
You would think Mexican cartels would hire better heroin chemists
Killing off ones customer base seems counterproductive to common sense
Maybe I’m missing something
Someone very close to one of my daughters last words were it’s turning pink it must be good
The police report said it had four times the lethal dose of fentanyl in it
I think Eric Bollings son in Denver took what it thought was a Xanax bar and it was cut with fentanyl at many times the lethal dose
Our worst risk in my day was I dunno
Bad acid
Colombian quaaludes that we’re really Valium
This fentanyl scourge scares me
I warm my kids a lot....
.
In an unregulated drug producing situation certainly quality control is not high on the list. In the old days heroin would come to the US one of two ways: From Turkey though Sicily by the Mafia and then here and in the late stages of the Vietnam War black GI’s realized they could connect with Asian gangs who’d bring it here and there would be some measure of making sure it wasn’t ‘’stepped on’’ too much. Losing customers means losing money.
Now as you point out the Mexican cartels are doing and quality control means as much to them as a string of pearls does to an ape.
I’d never heard of fentanyl until recently. I had no idea how lethal it was. From what I understand a match head of the stuff is enough to kill a 200 lb. adult.
Funny how this character is getting away with committing numerous felonies without so much as a by your leave from the authorities.
Didn’t read article. Is heroin legal in his state?
