We Italians prefer knives to fists. Spaniards are much the same if you've ever watched the opera "Carmen." I can't remember now if it was Chesterton or Dumas, who put into one of their stories, a dying bandito saying to the priest, "Silver and gold have I none, but I can give you advice for a lifetime: your thumb on the blade, and strike upwards."
