He’s so frail - how can he make it through treatment?

How does someone such as Dole, who at his age has what one would expect doctors all over him, and no one notices cancer?

Same with poor Rush, worth hundreds of millions, not have had an exam that disclosed stage iv?

I am three years lung cancer survivor and only thanks to early detection.

And like a reformed whore, I will tell you all find any reason, make it up, lie just get examined. What you don’t know will hurt you.

This goes for any cancer, I have prostate cancer too, but early detection as well, I can plan not react.

I am thankful that I pissed blood. Would have never gone to the doctor prior. Early stage bladder cancer, discovered, treated and removed. Docs thought it was kidney stones at first.

I feel I just got lucky. If I didn’t piss blood, no way I would have gone and it would have been late stage.

18 months cancer free. Praise Jesus.

I give Bob Dole credit. He was very positive about Trump in both elections. One of the few establishment guys to see the opportunity to advance conservatism instead of ankle biting. A real American.

I know, Mr. Dole is a hero! He fought for the country and even though he seemed dour, he was damn good in the Senate, buying us 15 more years of high-quality health care (by stopping Skunk Cabbage’s plan). I’d call that a successful accomplishment!

Rush mentioned that the type of cancer he had manifested itself as Stage Four from the beginning.

I don’t understand it, but there was no Stage 1, 2, or 3.

Just boom! Stage 4.

I miss him already.

And the GOP governor of Ohio....John Kasich....could not be bothered to show up at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland in 2016.

Pathetic.

I was impressed when Bob Dole showed up in Cleveland, despite his advanced age and wartime disabilities.

I was also impressed in 1996 when Bob Dole resigned as Senate Majority leader AND as a U.S. Senator when he ran for president that year.

I’m sure Kasich must have been “busy” on his own campaign with his campaign aide, John Weaver.

mitt has NO “class” and he’s a petty, jealous, greedy punk. But hey, the “magic underwear” people just love him. After all, he’s going to take them to golob or whatever.

Bob Dole, the 97-year-old former Republican senator and 1996 presidential candidate, announced Thursday that he is battling lung cancer.

Another individual cut down in their youth by the evil tobacco industry!

But seriously, I'll always have a soft spot for Dole, yeah I know he certainly no conservative icon and was about as establishment as they come, but he was the last of the WW II generation that ran for President, truly the end of an era. A pity he got beaten by the draft dodger, Slick Willie, who wasn't fit to shine Dole's combat boots.

"He didn’t complain, didn’t want sympathy. Those guys took what life gave them and made the best of it. They worked hard and drank Maxwell House. Down to earth, no putting on airs, no feigned elitism."

Amen. My father was a WWII combat veteran of the South Pacific and a career Army officer who "didn’t complain, didn't want sympathy...worked hard, and drank Maxwell House." He returned from the war a 24-year old major. His older brother served in the Atlantic and Pacific aboard the Navy battleship Idaho. His three sons and two nephews subsequently served, and at least one drinks Maxwell House to this day.

God bless Bob Dole, my late uncle, and my late father -- icons of the Greatest Generation.

they’re probably giving him immunotherapy, like Keytruda. Side effects are usually minimal and immunotherapy is a last-ditch treatment for lots of stage 4 cancers these days. If it was me, I’d just ask for hospice.

Cancer is creepy that way. When my mother was diagnosed last year, her tumor grew so fast in 3-4 weeks that she was stage 4 at diagnosis and since the cancer spread very early, she was inoperable. She really didn’t feel sick either, she just had this fast growing tumor on her face.

That is because it is BS.

All cancers begin with a bad cell.

If you loved what you did, was highly regarded for what you did, had a solid marriage and hundreds of millions, does it not make sense to make sure you are healthy enough to keep it going?

People get cancer all the time, the body usually takes care of it, UNTIL it doesn’t. We are all susceptible.

For people with money and who are self-insured like Rush, it is only a question of doing it. No insurance overlords saying you cannot.

I continue to advocate as many scans as often it is safe to do

What a huge waste and loss for this country.

I lucked out too with my lung cancer.

Was in the hospital for something else and was coughing, so they took a chest x-ray. Bingo! I was also in there for a difficult infection that required a drip, so that may have also played a part.

I have allergies, so there is never any time in my life I am not coughing.

Lie, cheat, steal, do whatever it takes to get yourself monitored. Waiting for it to be a problem is a problem.

Why Rush or Dole did/does not seek out Dr. Gilbert Lederman of NYC for treatment baffles me.

Pres. Jimmy Carter had great success from Dr. Lederman.

Life is strange. Prayers are all I can offer.
