IMO Bush and Obama. Bush pushing the globalist idea that the more economically successful China became the more western it would become and since other foreign companies owned land in the US their belief was to allow China too. Naive it was. Then Obama and his anti-American stance didn’t even give a glance to China buying land much less scrutiny to who the actual owner of the land was. And the ignorance of the American public towards this. It wasn’t until Trump was elected that the average US citizen became aware as to how the previous administrations of both parties were intent on destroying or weakening America in order to accomplish their goals.

On December 15, 1978, US President Jimmy Carter announced that the United States would no longer recognize the government of the Republic of China (based on the island of Taiwan) as the legitimate government of China, and instead would recognize the Red Chinese government, The Peoples Republic of China. In 1979, Carter moved to support MFN status for China.
Clinton criticized GHWB for his China policy, but turned around and declared Most Favored Nation Status-saying he had changed his mind.
I was not happy when Nixon “opened up China”. I totally disagreed with the action Carter had taken. And ever since the first MFN status, I said that we were going to do the same thing we did with Germany/Hitler - finance the military of an enemy that we would eventually have to fight. SMH. 😒😠😡

I think many of us did realize this but there was not a damn thing we could do since every politician was either in on the game or a weakling, and the handful who were neither had not enough power and of course were hated by their fellows in DC.
