Snow slide
Now this is just bizarre weird. Some cussing. Found on one of GhostEzra’s pages:
I accepted this challenge only because I noticed that icicles were not melting properly today.
Went outside, made a snow ball and lit the candle.
Snow ball turned black and is not melting.
Maybe it's soot from the candle? Tried it with the lighter. same result.
Seriously weird non-melting snow video. Is there any other info on this phenomenon out beyond the trees? Our snow in southern Illinois melted like normal in the sun today even though the high was in the teens. Still very unseasonably frigid. -3° forecasted for tonight.
Here’s what’s going on with the non-melting snow.

Turns out that the melt water gets absorbed into the snowball like syrup in a snow cone. The soot is just combustion by product deposited on the surface. It’s pretty weird.
Nothing like a good slide. We’re starved for research topics.
