Our Grannies may be kin! Grama made bread Saturdays and Tuesdays though in winter. Just Saturday in summer, too hot. But she always gave away 1 or 2 loaves of every 3 loaf batch. She had a metal bread box that was old as the hills to keep the bread. I got the bread box when she passed away but it dented in a move and the dented corner rusted out.
And since I’m a sentimental sap that bread box now catches assorted things in my garden shed. The kind of stuff where half goes in the trash when I sort it out twice a year.
