Shakespeare wrote 400+ years ago. Of course, he would not have had the opportunity to experience the enlightenment of the 21st century. /s

They will make the same argument against any British or American writer whose works constitute part of the Western canon. They are not interested in educating students. They are not interested in giving them literature that is rigorous and requires them to work and think. They are not interested in working or thinking themselves. The end result of their efforts will be students who are as academically-deprived and culturally- ignorant as they are themselves.

Give the kids a steady diet of whining feminist and POC racist writings, LGBTQ porn, and hip-hop lyrics. They will be well-equipped to function in 21st century America.
