Is that future viable? Of course not. Do our overlords care? Of course not.”

Human nature and history seem to indicate that we are far from any sort of upheaval as long as we are the fattest, most passively entertained and least used to sustained physical effort of any people ever. We did amazing things the romans couldn’t even imagine with our modern version of bread and circuses, like actually making the poorest people the most likely to be obese.

Can it last? I guess we shall see but I think they have every motive to try to make make it sustainable.

9 missed meals is just three days.

Peasants past were close enough to food production that they could see famine coming and prepare (however meagerly). They knew food later took effort now.

Today’s ‘peasants’ think food appears on shelves, and will be far from prepared when those shelves just stop restocking.
