It’s more about backing RINOs in the 2022 general election. The GOP knows they can mostly bully their way through the primaries with dirty tricks, cash and the power of incumbency. But they need Trump voters to pull them over the line in the general against Democrats.
That, but trying to keep Trump from unifying the conservative vote in primaries is important to the GOPe too.
