I drive too much I need that 50MPG to manage the gas. Looking at one the same age that I just saw on sale for $7k - less mileage than I had same year.
I’ll likely do an SUV or a Pickup for my retirement vehicle. I really would love to have a Toyota Tundra Diesel Hybrid... supposedly they are working on it.

The VW Diesels where great on mileage - until the government JBT environazis decided that they weren’t meeting emissions standards. 50 mpg in a Jetta - nice, but the powers that be wanted us to choose a different fuel and were using their government power to force that change.

I went the other way for retirement. MPGs reign for me.
I had a 2013 Prius-C that I traded in for a 2017 Hyundai ioniQ (my "Q" car) hybrid.
Great in the summer (sometimes 60-62 MPG for some trips), not so much in the winter MPGs wise.
Lifetime warranty on the hybrid batteries.
Still have an SUV available...Wife has the SUV - 2010 Equinox with 58k miles on it.
