Typically they spend decades saving it, putting it into bonds, 401K’s etc so the companies and Wall Street can subsequently inflate its value away or go bankrupt on their bond obligations and subsequently reacquire the asset for a fraction of the cost without the debt load re: the fiber infrastructure buildout and telecom consolidations...
