Wow does that ever look gorgeous. What brand of flooring did you get? We have talked in the past about redoing our living room instead of getting new carpet. The color matches the woodwork perfectly. Nice job! BTW I am trying rooting a celery stalk now after reading about it here. Thanks for posting the pictures.

It is Mannington Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT) Adura Plank Flooring in Acacia Tiger’s Eye. Birch plywood went down first, then Mick mudded in the seams, then sanded when dry. It was glued down and Beau amazingly (well, he saves EVERYTHING!) had all the original 1/4-round trim to put back after I cleaned it all.

There is SO much wood in that room that I’m amazed I got it right, though anything lighter wouldn’t have been good.

Still loving it. I have one large area rug (12x9) in the main seating area and another smaller area rug under a table at the back of the room, a smaller rug by the patio doors (which the cars have claimed ‘For All Cats in the Kingdom’ - I straighten it daily!) and a smaller rug by the entry to the room. That STILL leaves a lot of wood showing.

Just been either sweeping or using a Swifter every few days. Easier than I though it would be with us, two cats and a shedding Beagle in the house. Plus - it’s an old house and makes it’s own dust and dirt seemingly effortlessly. ;)

Beau finished insulating the floor, which is the ceiling of the 2-car garage beneath the family room. He was afraid it was going to be cold in that room now, but it’s very comfortable - and no static! Yay! The only heat source is the gas fireplace, and it’s doing just fine even in this very frigid winter.

Highly recommended. Total project was about $2500 all told, mainly because plywood is so bloody expensive right now - about $25 a sheet and we needed 15 sheets. Also, the labor was ‘free’ between the three of us.
