Absolutely excited!

I ordered a 20 lb bag of 0-11-0 Bird guano fertilizer and its arrived! :)

(Yes, I blend it with others!)

If anyone is using blood meal fertilizer I read somewhere that it attracts raccoons! Can anyone confirm this?

Do fish meal and fish emulsion fertilizers do the same? I’m not out in the country it may not be that much of a problem.

Great find! My secret weapon for my fruit trees and raspberries is a 10-18-10 granular ‘new lawn starter’ which isn’t always easy to find, but SO perfect for their needs!

Rabbits and raccoons do NOT like the smell of blood meal. Lots of people use it around emerging spring bulbs to thwart bunny chomping.

I know raccoon will EAT fish (Koi ponds are a favorite - ask my Mom!) but liquid fish emulsion repels ME, so they probably won’t like it, either. They put fish oil and meat meal in ‘Repels All’ spray, which is some pretty smelly stuff.

Ask me how many broken/leaking bottles of the stuff I cleaned up at the garden center. GAG!

I figured that rabbits don’t like it. Racoons? Just going on what someone else said. (Maybe their raccoons have different tastes!

I get a 1 gallon jug of fish emulsion from Grow Organic and it has a vent hole in the top. I learned the first time I opened it to take it out when ever I use it, and, of course, to keep it on the floor of the basement so that if it spills it wont be much.

The “J” place sells Raspberry shortcake thornless raspberry....let me ask, have you grown that and how did it work?

Ah, but I asked them to tell me when things were back in stock, and was was able to score Carbon Tomato and Heavy hitter Okra seeds!

Small garden so if I can get by with 1 or 2 okra bushes all the better!

If I had a larger garden I might try the Tahitian squash.

Good luck with your Luffa Gourds!

Camellias and rhododendrons peaking out now in Seattle since we have not yet had a hard frost/freeze. And even a few little pink roses on the southeast side facing rose bushes.

Usually we have had a few 20 degree nights by now and the worst so far has been 31 32’ish. My fall sweetnpeas are still growing but not producing peas. Flowers but no sweet peas.

Hahahahahaha!!! That is funny.

They used to play the Animal House scene in the middle of 9th inning at Mariner’s games when they were trying to rally.

Soo funny.

They do fantastic here! I think they are state plant of flower.

When they open the Canadian border you should plan a trip to Buschart Gardens in Victoria.

That place is amazing.

You can visit the Seattle area and take a fast ferry up there. It is a great trip.

L.F:

Good deal!

Baker Creek....recieved some of their seed, 2 days ago put lettuce seed in some damp paper towels in a sandwich bag and this morning they were pushing out roots. Planted them in soil in fabric bags in 7 gallon trade pots on the back porch this AM. (Covered with these and the growing lettuce with Reemay, have space heater to keep the place above 0 tonight. (Will be hitting -5 to -10 below later this week...Mild in Madison and Minneapolis!)

We will see how they do! Can always replant!

Good luck and good growing!

Zone 6b 1100 feet ks/mo border.

Wow! Cool start. I, lol, put in a seed order - looked at the total, thought WHOA, then paid. Afterward I realized I forgot freakin TOMATOES, and bell peppers, and a few other things, so - in went the second order. I console myself by knowing that this is three years worth of seed. :)

Always better to have too many than too few. Overplant and share.
