While some states across the country are protecting rioters, one state is doing just the opposite.

Proposed Missouri bill would allow property owners and motorist to use deadly force against rioters.

Wictor boosted a thread, and it’s interesting-just an excerpt—more @the link:

COVID thread. When the pandemic began and the first lockdown order was given I got a knot in my gut. I’m a board certified Emergency Physician though I do not practice in the ER anymore. Why the knot in my gut? For a variety of reasons and from a kind of deep dread that I could not explain.

First of all, it made no sense to me to lock down. COVID was known to be spread by the respiratory path and also thought to be spread by fecal-oral contact (hand to mouth). =>

2/ Okay, fair enough. And the Imperial College modeling looked horrible to be sure. The situation in Italy and the ‘zombie’ videos from Wuhan looked horrible. Then NYC blew up, yet still I wasn’t buying the story.

After all, we had a very interesting closed-system that gave us REAL data on the virus. This was the Diamond Princess cruise ship. According to a USA Today story on March 1. Of 3711 people on board, 700+ were infected. There were 14 deaths =>

3/ These numbers are off, perhaps, but a small percentage as the article I pulled this from was from back in the Spring.

But guess what we didn’t do? We didn’t take this real world example and modify the models. Nor did we take data from the outbreak on the USS T Roosevelt which did cause one death. We went with the models.

Most of the epidemiologists and infectious disease experts I read at the time were counseling modest restrictions and were against lockdowns. =>

4/ These included Dr John Ioniddes at Stanford and his colleague Dr Jay Battacharya also at Standford. These two experts were pilloried in the press.

Their efforts at antibody testing were derided as the results of these studies suggested that COVID was MORE widespread and, logically, less deadly. Similar testing was done in Boston and NYC. These results were also studiously ignored.

Why? I have some ideas but basically they all boil down to power =>
