Why would Texas want to become a republic with a state that would be economically dependent on real Texans.
As for cultural, Texas shares a lot of cultural with Louisiana and Mexico, but there is no need to make Louisiana and the northern states of Mexico into the Republic of Texas.

Well, the GDP may be 1/10 but the population is something around 1/10 as well.... so I don’t get the statement that they are “a state that would be economically dependent on real Texans”.
I would live like pauper if I that what it took to be free of DC oppressors.
