Initial info claims that a fiberoptic cable cut in Brooklyn is the cause. Most major services seem to be down. Zoom, Google, Verizon, many others. Even as far as Pittsburgh, where the NOAA weather radar is apparently out.
Working fine here in NE Alabama with temps in the mid 60’s today.
Our occupation is probably about the same.
In Maryland, one of the few things that keeps us safe is that the legislature is only allowed to do massive damage, I mean meet for 90 days a year.
Of course, their legislative list is full of gun control and tax increases, for that’s all those lunatics know.
You would have to say that!!!!!
Here in the western side of NH, the internet was a little funky earlier this morning but is fine now.
Not resilient as intended of the ARPANET of Cold War vintage. So now a bunch of guys each with a commercial post hole digger could in theory shut down the nations internet and cellular phone service? It requires a bit of time to splice fiber optics—so possible to easily outpace restoration of service? Prospect like Tony Beets at the orange markers then move out—rinse-and-repeat???
Baltimore had no problems with internet today, thank goodness.
What is a FIBER CUT?
My thoughts someone is exploring where Google traffic will be routed in the event of a Major outage.
Then that node can be cut also next time.
