I have used BRAVE for the last week or two and it’s great.
For searches I use DUCKDUCKGO and Startpage........................

An excellent article. I use Brave and it’s great. Fast, secure, and easy to use. And it’s a cinch to migrate your bookmarks and passwords from Chrome or Firefox.

Gab has
the Dissenter browser, which is supposed to be a better version of Brave.
It automatically blocks advertisers.
It automatically allows comments on any site visited.

Is there no truth to the information that DDG is a compiler similar to Search Tempest and that it sources from Google?

I just discovered the
Gibiru search engine today. Not sure how to pronounce "Gibiru," but it claims to offer "uncensored private search."

There is also
Ecosia, which bills itself as "the search engine that plants trees."

Look for the search engine QWant.
It wants to become your browser Home page, though.
You will be astounded by the lack of crap returned by a non-Google search.

Startpage uses google...just keeps you anonymous (hopefully).

Yeah, they are way beyond ‘subtly influencing voter perception’. They blew past that going 275 MPH.

Which search engine is truly independent of Google?
There are a couple dozen search engines, but most of them are merely a front end for Google Search. Even if they keep your search private, they are still using Google, and hence Googles algorithms and builtin bias.
I believe Duck Duck Go might be Google-free, but I have not verified it.

It’s not. Its queries are via Google.

Used DDG for many, many years since it first appeared...
Have recently switched to Right Dao... Even cleaner than DDG and just as fast...
Dao = Data Access Object (DAO)

I finally installed Brave Browser and its as good as Opera or Vivaldi. Opera also has a odd release called Opera Neon that is a alternative. I ditched on Friday Chrome. Always had a copy with Opera or whatever other browser I had. Replaced with Brave.
