Probably Carter. He was very puritanical baptist when he was in there, got rid of a lot of presidential frills. He was “jes’ folks” as they used to say, holding bbqs on the WH lawn and inviting Willie and Waylon to perform.
My first presidential election was when I voted for Jimmy Carter. I didn’t know much. I was in college and my history prof was really animated about the race. I liked Carter because he was an underdog, he was a Baptist SS teacher which I though meant he was a man of honor, and he was a peanut farmer. My dad raised peanuts. Boy was I wrong. Even his daughter turned out to be a revolutionary. Amy. Carter was inept but he had that golly shucks demeanor that seemed kind. Maybe he is. His wife has shown to be kind of a shrew politically in later years. He established his middle east center and went around affirming crooked elections. Then I hear he and Bill Clinton created a New Baptist Covenant. LOLOLOLOLOL Forget Jimmy. He should have stayed in the peanut patch. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Baptist_Covenant
