Moratorium order shocks NM oil industry
Albuquerque Journal ^ | 1/23/21 | Stephen Hamway,Ryan Boetel,Dan Boyd

The federal government’s 60-day suspension of new oil and gas leasing and drilling permits on public lands sent shockwaves through the industry in New Mexico and divided industry experts over potential impacts.

“It’s very much putting politics above science,” said Ryan Flynn, president and CEO of the New Mexico Oil and Gas Association.

Members of the oil and gas industry and economic experts are weighing the potential impact of the federal government’s 60-day suspension of new ail and gas leasing and drilling permits on public lands. (Jim Thompson/Albuquerque Journal) Acting Secretary of Interior Scott de la Vega on Wednesday ordered a 60-day moratorium on new leases, drilling permits or other contracts needed to extract fossil fuels on federal lands, both onshore and offshore. The rule doesn’t affect existing permits.

Flynn said he was “disappointed” by the order after it was announced Thursday. He said he doesn’t believe the suspension would help reduce emissions, and that the order interrupts the development of infrastructure that connects new and existing wells to pipelines, forcing operators to flare methane emissions rather than recovering them.

Wait for Fauci and his warnings to migrate over to “the national climate emergency”. The left could very easily call on WHO (CCP), CDC, Fauci, @Jack, Gates, the usual suspects and declare the climate emergency. They could then pick and choose which segments of the economy to destroy.

Beyond the fraud, there were millions of ignorant idiots that voted for Bidung. They hated Trump so bad because the media told them to and now we will all reap the reward for their idiocy.

"Would you like to super size that order and add fries?"

Even that job will be turned over to a machine which never takes breaks and amortizes over the years at far less that $15 per hour of operation. Real Socialism, not the Scandinavian Capitalist government partnership model our kids have been misled to imagine is in store, has always meant shared misery for all classes but the party elite.

“Much of Montana’s oil and gas production is done on federal lands. This will dramatically affect the job situation there too. President Donald Trump opened up the jobs by drastically reducing restrictions on federal lands. Well, wonder how NeverTrumper Liz Cheney feels about this edict from Biden.”

Liz Cheney likely doesn’t care squat about Montana; and it’s debatable if she cares anything about Wyoming.

But they’re vegans, so they can pay more for their vegetables, since more land will be devoted to raising crops for ethanol.

Manchin and Tester are possible roadblocks, but Manchin has the Epi-Pen scandal, and heaven only knows what might be revealed about Tester, should he dare to think for himself.
