Hi Spirit....

My little bubble has remained intact throughout this craziness, for the most part. I always say that I’ve been practicing for this for years lol. It’s mostly because I never stopped going to where I normally go. The only two things I’ve really missed is the hairdresser and my cleaning lady! I actually had to dust and vacuum over the weekend. It wasn’t pretty.

I’m just wondering something. I don’t buy a lot of stuff, but I find myself using Amazon more than I want to....seeing as I don’t want to use them at all. Boy, it’s hard to NOT use them. Is anyone else trying to cut the Amazon cord? Do you all still have a variety of stores open that you don’t have to use Amazon? They’ve just made it so darned easy.....I have to stop myself now and either go without, or find it elsewhere (and it’s often a bit more expensive).

I’m an introvert, so staying home for days at a time was my norm to begin with. LOL I’ve joked that if I didn’t go to church, Weight Watchers or the grocery store, I wouldn’t see people for days on end even BEFORE this happened! I did a lot of online shopping prior to this anyway.

I do order stuff from Amazon even before COVID, just because it’s easier. I hate going to a store that shows they have an item online but they don’t carry in the actual store. Having worked at Michaels, I understand; they don’t have room in the retail store to carry everything in their inventory. COVID just exacerbated the situation, in my opinion.

Other than Amazon, the only place I know of where you can order most everything you want from one place is Walmart. But to me, that’s almost on par as ordering from Amazon. I’ve seen small companies listing their items on Amazon or Walmart more to get exposure, but you can often order from them directly even though it might cost more. Our local yarn store closed right before COVID hit. We have Michaels, Joann, Hobby Lobby and Walmart that sell yarn. If there’s a certain yarn I want, I can probably go to that company’s website and order it. It’s just easier (but not as fun!).

I do have some books I want that I’m going to Books A Million to purchase (we still have a bricks and mortar bookstore!); if they’re out of stock I’ll order directly from their website. So there’s ways around the Amazon addiction but you’re right that it could cost more.

Well, the other day I was looking for a particular fabric.

I first stopped at Joann’s and they didn’t have it. Then I tried Hobby Lobby. Nope, they didn’t have it, either.

I’ve (tried) ordering fabric online, even from Amazon, and it just hasn’t worked out, for me.

I guess, next, I’ll have to go to the YUGE fabric store, downtown. That is like a day trip, for me.....regardless which (closest) downtown I go to.

😱

I used to use Amazon a lot. But my Kindle updated and wiped out my user information. Calls didn’t help, I was told to open an account with a different email, didn’t work.
I’ve lived so far without Amazon.

Paying a bit more to buy from the manufacturer instead of from Amazon is worth it if it helps to save our country. If anyone donated to the RNC, that money can now be better used to buy from someone other than Amazon.

I am blessed. The first and only time I used Amazon (about 15 years ago), I was ripped off. So I never tried them again. I am able to purchase everything I need without Amazon. There are plenty of options for on-line shopping.

“Is anyone else trying to cut the Amazon cord?”

We’ve used Amazon for about 15 years — a LOT. On Jan. 18, the day after my Trump tee shirt was delivered, our account was frozen. (Coincidence? I think not!) They said we were hacked and they cut us off. So Amazon cut our cord. We’ve called a couple times to get it up and running because it’s so convenient.

So we’ve been without it for this long and are doing OK, but I miss the convenience. Prime TV is still working; we just can’t order.

I need a new battery for my laptop.
