Just heard, Hank Aaron dead at 86.

Oh, no. My pops took us to see Aaron at Dodger stadium for two games during the end of Aaron's run. He hit (I think) they tying home run when we were there. The next game they sat him out so he could hit the big one in front of his home crowd in Hotlanta.

Talk about pissed off.

Youngster.

My pops took me to a double header at the coliseum with the Braves (still Milwaukee then) in 1959.

Dodgers won both, impressive outings by two LH'ers, McDevitt and Koufax.

Aaron hit a few against the L field screen for singles that would have been a HR in any other ball park.

“He hit (I think) they tying home run when we were there.”

That in and of itself must have been so cool. I saw it on TV.
My great-uncle played for the Washington Senators and the Cleveland Indians way back when. I never got to meet him, unfortunately, but I probably would have been speechless in that man’s presence.

Sorry to burst your bubble, Bagster, but you were off by one. 713 was in LA. Nice memory for you and your dad. The details of his LA games are also in the article below.

Aaron hit 714 off of my beloved Cincinnati Reds on opening day of 1974. I remember sitting in English class sophomore year when we heard the news. :)
