If you look at the sales brochures from cars in the 60’s you had a huge selection of engine choices and the cars all looked different.
Now, you are lucky to have two engine choices and the cars all look the same. Everything has been standardized mostly due to government regulations. Todays cars are faster and better handling but they all look the same like a bar of soap. Who cares?
It is headed that ways in all products. Fewer choices with 1limited options established by the political class.
They are moving the same way in the news and social networks. Only one narrative supported by a selected event with all other viewpoints labeled unsubstantiated and/or hateful.
Even churches have gone that way, God loves everyone and don’t feel bad because we all sin. Any inconvenient verses are wordsmithed away like a Surpreme Court decision on the constitution.
Sorry, if I am a little pessimistic.
Wind tunnels and computer aided design..........................
Haha, Muscle cars were not about stopping and cornering. Muscle cars were about the quarter mile.
My dream car is a Lead Sled 49-51 Chopped, Channeled Merc. Probably not too many Freepers are that old to remember.
I remember, but that was not one of my favs...........................
Won’t see any Ford Focus car shows that’s for sure.
They must think that we are fools for not noticing this. Maybe we are fools.
Unfortunately, not planning for increased demand means that life will become miserable for many. It is not like you can build a power plant overnight. And a power plant will cost billions to build. Who is going to pay for it?
Maybe we will be forced to choose between heating or cooling our homes and your neighbor charging their electric car.
That’s pretty cool, I would prefer your car over an electric Mustang.
Probably not a gas one though.
I’m not an electric car hater, I am quite fascinated actually.
I drive beaters.
That’s fine, but beside the point. Will they be accepted to the mass market? Will they sell?
2050:
10 year old: Grandpa, what is gasoline?
Grandpa: It’s stuff we used to put in cars to make them go fast.
10 year old: Faster than 45 miles an hour?
Grandpa: Yes, up to 200 miles per hour!
10 year old: Aw, Grandpa, you’re trying to fool me again!..........................
I remember an article when the new Challenger came out describing the design history. When they were working on designing the side profile of the fenders, they had to turn off the computer assists because the program wasn’t allowing them to produce an attractive design.
I do.
It probably made them look like Ford Escorts...............................
I’ve thought since Cash for Clunkers that autos will outpace the ability of much of the public to afford them.

Make sure he is careful with the motor.
The exact motor oil they recommend in a MUST and no Walmart cheap stuff
The 05/06 dropped valves like crazy.
Mine went up in smoke in Lowes parking lot one night with no warning.
[and 220K miles]
Hubby sold his motorcycle to get a rebuilt motor dropped in it 9 months later and a couple months after that, the torque converter went to hell.
After two trips to different salvage yards and having it taken out/put in *4* times, the tranny is working.
You guys helped me get that fixed.
And now I won’t be able to afford driving it anywhere except the grocery store, at 50 mph to keep the Hemi and V8 from kicking in.
heck.
He will probably enjoy the Dodge Magnum forum and the Dodge Magnum FB forums.
/and he’ll need them
Again...will the public walk into a dealership and sign paperwork to buy all of these planned vehicles?
I need to steal that for the days when I go out and curse that thing’s very existence.
SO much love/hate...but mostly love.
