You can bet that if the military has to become involved in any domestic unrest, the FIRST thing to disappear will be all forms on non-military communications.

Chuckle...That's going to rattle the youngsters.

But I'm willing to bet that marine band VHS comms will remain up. It's a safety issue. It is very common around here to use the VHF to communicate boat to boat, boat to crew ashore with handhelds or boat to "The House". Then too there is all the commercial traffic. They can't just stop and be silent.

Of course, the USCG can certainly shut it down. I just don't think they will.

One of the reasons I’ve been watching shipping traffic is to see if the CG puts out and starts to halt inbound traffic. So far there seem to be USN and CG pickets in places but nothing around traffic hold ups.
