Microsoft Mail comes bundled with Win10. (It's the old Outlook Express, not the old discontinued Microsoft Mail of history). As a side note, Microsoft will also throw in a free Outlook email account with your new Win10 machine.
As for the servicer provided email, Verizon dumped theirs on AOL, then bought AOL. Frontier's legacy users were dumped on Yahoo, but email wasn't offered to the customers they bought from Verizon. AT&T dumped its email on Yahoo. Which was then bought by Verizon. It looks like Spectrum may still offer hosted email services.
True, therefore I'm assuming Microsoft is mining the data from it, just like Google and others do. I use several providers, including Spectrum, and they all host email service. I was not aware Verizon dropped their ISP mail hosting.
I use old, purchased copies of Outlook on everything, and will continue to do so as long as it continues to be supported. I just bought a 3 PC version of Office 2010, which includes Outlook for $120.
