Of course, it makes no difference that the name has nothing to do with the racial slur, but is named after the company’s founder. This reminds me of the debate over the word “niggardly” a few years ago.

Have to change the common name of Procyon Lotor too.

“Coon” is a very common last name.
There is even a Democrat US Senator named Coons!
This is gonna get fun!

Fine, how about renaming it Boong Cheese? /sarc
What was this brand of food really named after? I’m wagering it’s a 90 percent chance that it wasn’t named to put down aboriginals at all.

>>The cheese got its original name from American pioneering cheese maker Edward William Coon who patented a ripening process in the 1920s.
Doesn’t matter anymore

Who hasn't seen a coon poking around the garbage at one time or the other?

A family on my street where I grew up was named COONS. some kids jokingly called them a family of Coons, a den of Coons, etc… At the time, I thought they meant Raccoons. Perhaps the older kids meant something different
Who would imagine these poor folks would someday be identified as inherently racist.

Edward William CoonIf it was this guy's last name, then it can't very well be related to the racial slur, can it? He wasn't black, so it isn't as if someone hung a slur on him for a surname.
The world is getting bizarre and tiresome.

I thought maybe they’d go with Spade or Jig Cheese. Of course, Darkie tooth paste was re-branded Darlie a few years ago (after Colgate tried, and rejected Dakkie), so they got ahead of the curve. But Black Person Toothpaste is apparently still Black Person Toothpaste in the Chinese labeling.
