What’s the point of bothering, and spending all that money, if everything goes to hell in a handbasket?
Well, for one thing, we’re not in the handbasket yet. And becoming a part of the local amateur community is a good thing – you’ll create friendships and alliances, learn more about the hobby from those who have been there and done that, and even be able to assist your community if the shit really hits the fan in a non-political sense.

Our power along with 86,000 customers here in NW Wa went out just after midnight. Fired up the generator, made coffee and had all HF/UHF/VHF and CB on the air within 5 minutes. Fridge and freezer working. Sat TV on. Thawing a steak now to grill later. DE N7LRG.
For later.

Anyone have Nellie Ohr’s Ham Radio handle?
From their site: All user data is protected by the Swiss Federal Data Protection Act (DPA) and the Swiss Federal Data Protection Ordinance (DPO) which offers some of the strongest privacy protection in the world for both individuals and corporations. As ProtonMail is outside of US and EU jurisdiction, only a court order from the Cantonal Court of Geneva or the Swiss Federal Supreme Court can compel us to release the extremely limited user information we have.
Over the air radio comms can be heard by anyone and from anywhere. No thanks.
ProtonMail
ExpressVPN
TOR
DuckDuckGo — although there are hints that they may be working with Google.
Nothing is perfect, but you can cover your tracks pretty well.
Is there an FR ham net perhaps?
You can be sure our police and military already have direction finding equipment. So all ham operators beware.
Hey, that’s the way we did it before you younguns’s and your fancy, schmancy internet came along. Time to drag the old HAM rig out of the shed, clean the rust of the antenna and party like it’s 1985!
Ham net? You know it might be worth suggesting to the mods. That way us ham operators would have a place to share info and be easy to find by other forum users.
Here is Wisdom:
Goto Amazon and buy Ward Silver’s “Dummies” book on ham radio. (Be sure you get the Ward Silver one — there are a few others, not as good.)
It’s The Best beginner’s briefing there is.
Not over-blown or hyper-tech. Jut good, understandable advice and information on it.

DDG is NOT working with google. That is disinformation planted to dissuade patriots from trusting a good site. Just like the disinformation posted about Parler a couple months ago. Research it yourself. I did.
Thanks
BFL,
Thanks.
You can actually look that up on the Universal Licensing System:
https://wireless2.fcc.gov/UlsApp/UlsSearch/searchAmateur.jsp
You can look up anybody’s/everybody’s license.
Mine is AF7RU
License to operate has you on file with the FCC and online with address for the PUBLIC to view at any time.
