The House voted late Tuesday to approve a resolution begging Vice President Mike Pence to trigger the 25th Amendment and sideline President Trump, a largely symbolic spanking that was a prelude to a bigger fight over impeachment.
The 223-205 vote saw one Republican, Rep. Adam Kinzinger, join with Democrats.
Democrats said the urgency of removing Mr. Trump after last week’s attack on the Capitol demanded action by Mr. Pence.
Well it was good to see that 205 Republicans voted against the measure. Almost all the pubs except one. I guess with 3 Pubs on record for voting for impeachment when that happens it will still be 225 to 203. The point spread should make an impression on the Senate. The Senate may vote in the majority to remove assuming McConnell tries to expedite a trial. (The Republicans will still be a Majority until California Gov appoints a replacement for Harris who will have to give up her seat. The Governor of California can’t make the replacement until Harris leaves so it will still be 50 49 Republicans when she has to be VP.) But I don’t think the Senate has 67 votes to convict and remove Trump.
