Its not just the cruise lines and their staff - the ports-of-call are all suffering from "de-tourism". The economies of many countries are taking a huge hit from the lack of cruise passengers.
This pause in ship travel is giving the locals a good lesson in appreciation for the positive economic impact of visitors.

Unfortunately in many countries, and now including ours with the socialist-communist American haters taking over, the Governments really don't seem to care abut the citizenry and the economic hardships they experience. -Tom

True, the economies of Thailand and the Philippines lost billions (nearly 100% tourism loss). Globally, $1.2 trillion lost in July ($2 trillion is now estimated) tourism back to 1970s levels - where travel was extremely expensive (equivalent of $3200 one-way (coach) from NYC to London.
