We used to say “If you claim to remember the sixties, you weren’t really there”
The way I remember it, most of what people think of as the sixties, didn’t really happen until the early seventies.
I was in the Army ‘66 to ‘80
My wife and I were 19 y/o kids from Ohio who moved to Hollywood in ‘68.
Weekends at the beach (Malibu, Santa Monica, Huntington) a few trips to Vegas and Tijuana.
Walking Sunset/Hollywood Blvds to watch the entertainment “shows”.
Charlie Manson and his girls doing their thing just a few minutes from our front door.
After 5 years, returned to sanity and left Hollywood....thank God!
Yeah, we were there in the 60s...and remembered a lot.
but there was just as many young people working, in the military, etc who were not anti war at all....
who got all the attention?...the antiwar hippies and crud...
69 happened. Tommy Agee STILL hasn’t touched home plate.
SLIDE ALERT:
::The way I remember it, most of what people think of as the sixties, didn’t really happen until the early seventies.::

That is the way I remember it, as well. The 1970s were so destructive to our culture.
Unfortunately, many young people think all of us Boomers were acting like the people they saw in the Woodstock movies.
