I do not know how I would have handled things yesterday if I were in his shoes.

I can say that if he, or any of the other ‘leaders’ in the GOP had gone into the lobby and told people to please stop and get back behind the barricades it could have stopped a whole lot of nonsense and may have saved at least one life.

I do not think they would have been in any danger from that mob.

I would have said "I have been notified in writing that four state legislatures are claiming disagreement in the legality of some electors. There is no constitutional rule that the count is done on any particular day before Jan 20 so I am delaying the count for 10 days so congress can investigate and the state legislators can certify the electors they send in."

Trying to pass the buck at the expense of peace and stability of the government and country is cowardice.

Mobs are unpredictable. I don’t think any Trump supporters would have hurt Pence or anyone else, but there were Antifa/BLM activists in the crowd pretending to be Trump supporters, and one of them could have gone after Pence.
