Also a brief but well played part in The Road.

For starring roles I’ll add THX 1138. That movie is under appreciated IMO.

He married a much younger woman, a wanna be actress. He wrote, directed, acted in, and produced some drivel called "Wild Horses", I believe was the name. She had a lead role and we saw why she doesn't get many roles, viz. a park statue has a greater range than she.

But the movie was about fags and how he abused a fag, and came off as totally sympathetic to fags. The movie pushed the fag agenda of them being oppressed and mistreated. I hated it.

I still like his movies, but wouldn't consider him one of the "good guys." He's a rank lib.

Why can’t he give Michael “straight answers anymore”?

Duvall wrote, directed, and starred in The Apostle. He tried for years to get it made but in the end decided to finance it himself.

A powerful movie released in 1997. The sort that Hollywood could never make today.

One of my favorite movies. Duvall got nominated for Best Actor but in 1981 - there were a ton of really great movies. DeNiro won that year for Raging Bull.

Duvall is one of the greatest of all time.

He was good as Blue Bonnet in Open Range.

And as Prentice Ritter in Broken Trail.

second hand lions is a great movie to watch with the family. One of my all-time favorites and a hidden gem.

I adore this actor and American original so much. Used to go with a friend to his restaurant in The Plains, Virginia (he has since sold it) just to look at his back while he ate lunch with his wife. Gushing isn't done in that part of the country (wealthy landed estates harking back to colonial times), so I never approached him. I've walked and driven past his huge horse estate out there, and I've seen a dozen of his movies, some of them twice or more.

My only complaint about his career is that Al Pacino was cast as the lead in Scent of a Woman, which should by rights have been Duvall's. Duvall is even married to a tango dancer and would have been perfection in that part.

Some of my favorites, besides the iconic Godfather, Santini, and Tender Mercies: Something to Talk About, A Family Thing (also wrote and produced), The Apostle (also wrote and produced), Gods and Generals, Secondhand Lions, Open Range, Get Low (produced).

I always thought they missed a great opportunity when they casted Jeff Bridges in the 2010 True Grit movie.

Id bet Duvall would have made a great Rooster! It would have been a neat bit of trivia.

Seen it four times. Iconic. I think about the final scene so many times in life.

Also as Boss Spearman in Open Range and Hub McCAnn in Secondhand Lions

It was tough watching him “The Judge”

I’ve never watched the re-hash more than 15 minutes in (I was instantly bored) I don’t think. There very well may be some movies that needed or need to be re-made. True Grit wasn’t one of them.

It was an insult, imo.

I liked him in Days of Thunder. It was a fun role. He was also good in Gone in 60 Seconds.
