It only worked in the US Capitol because 1000 or so Trump supporters went past the pushed-over bicycle rack type fence and then went up onto the steps and terraces. Some even entered the building. Even though they just walked through, they gave cover to the instigators. They also gave the media and Trump-hating politicians exactly what they wanted.

They also have seriously messed up their own lives. How many of the people who just walked past the fences knew that it is against the law to be unauthorized even on Capitol grounds.

Agreed, Free-dame. That was not the section of the Capitol where we were told to assemble prior; the designated spot was the grassy area between the Capitol and the Supreme Court Building. It appears most of the action took place on the opposite side of the Capitol at the corner of Constitution and First St.

In a normal situation, a person on their own would never think of crossing the barrier. However, it was not a normal situation that day and a mob mentality took over. It’s done and over now; rehashing it doesn’t change things.
