It really was hard to believe it was the same Michael Corleone from the previous Godfather movies.
Godfather 2 i think was the best. Been awhile. What was wrong with 3?
its amazing..its almost like a “parody” movie....the horrible dialogue...the stupid “action movie” type” violence...terrible casting....hard to believe Puzo and Coppola actually wrote it....
It was a disappointing end to the saga. And honestly, I never liked Diane Keaton in any of the iterations.
well..for starters, for some reason, they changed Michael’s character...from a cold, steel eyed mafia boss...to a spike haired frump cracking one liners....just weird.
I said a while back when this project was announced...the only way to salvage Godfather III would be to replace Sofia Coppala with a GOOD actress and replace all the George Hamilton scenes with Robert Duvall from 1990.
Bad script, bad casting, bad editing, otherwise ok :-)
Duvall knew a clunker when he saw it.
Best part of that was when Michael slaps the Schitt out of her
Never liked Keaton either
Probably should have just cribbed the ending from The Soparanos”
I put GF II, in my personal top five favorites of all time. (GF I, Patton, Bridge Over the River Kwai, Slaughterhouse Five/DrStrangelove (tie)). around out the list.
Just about everything that you'd expect when you try to squeeze a sequel out of story when it's not there. Mario Puzo had a very strong storyline to be able to get two classic movies out of it but the third one wasn't there.
never explained what happened to the “Tom Hagen” character...as for Sophia Coppola, her “death” scene had to be the worst ever..except until a little while later when Michael keels over and dies..that had “Benny Hill” written all over it....heh
It's inevitable when Hollywood has a mega-hit movie, they then keep doing sequels until they crash into the rocks. In fact, "Godfather" may have been one of the 1st sequel franchises.
Sometimes the sequel does measure up to the original, like "Godfather 2" or "Aliens". Then I guess Hollywood is tempted to roll the dice yet again and you get, well, "Godfather 3" or "Alien 3".
thats what i thought...the mistake was “creating” a story...where as the first 2 were obviously based on a real life story line...maybe should have loosely traced the Gambino family up to the John Gotti years...some thing along those lines...
i hear ya..sequels are usually done by people who had nothing to do with the original..but, Puzo and Coppola were involved...strange...
So true.......the daughter is a terrible actress.
Coppola had earlier successes using family members....so he threw Sofia into this mess.
first time i watched that abortion scene...wish id have seen my face, i never saw that coming....stunning scene..
