One of the most exciting things about roasting a ham is the guarantee of leftovers. I’m sure with enough training and perseverance it’s possible to finish off an entire ham in a single sitting, but outside of winning a bet, what would be the point? Each and every ham that comes into your life should be allowed to delight you in myriad ways, and we’ve got ideas for how to make the most of every morsel. No sad microwaved ham slabs for you! You deserve nothing but good things, and, as always, ham is here to help.

Sandwiches Anyone can make a half-assed ham and cheese sandwich, but if you put a little work into it, you can have a ham sandwich so brilliant that other, inferior ham sandwiches will tremble in its wake.

Half an onion chopped. Butter and oil to saute.

Always like to try someone's favorite recipe.

This one for ham and scalloped potatoes was a family tradition on my wife's side. A real comfort food.

Thinly slice about 3 lbs peeled potatoes. Butter the bottom of a casserole dish. Add a layer of potatoes. Sprinkle cut up ham. Another layer of potatoes. Sprinkle flour over, season with pepper. Add thin slices of butter. Continue these layers until dish is about an inch from the top. Add whole milk up to about a 1/2 inch from the top. Cover and bake in 350 oven for 1 hour. Uncover, bake another 30 mins.

Buy up all the leftover hams on sale now.

That is what I did. Hams that were $1.71 per pound, I got for 69 cents per pound. I bought 5.

I cooked 2 hams and plan on making Ham and beans in the instant pot cooker today. Once they are done, the dogs get the bones and any leftover beans will go to our chickens.
