I am alone every Christmas. My entire family died when I was 30 years old. I’m 71 now.
Unless my mother outlives me, I will more than likely be in the same boat some day. I have a bunch of cousins, 2nd cousins and even a 3rd cousin but no one is really close.
Just got home from Christmas Eve services. Also, celebrating my 59th birthday today.
I am alone except for Malcolm, my noble scottish terrier. (Maybe “noble” is too strong a word.) The thing is, I live like a hermit most of the time anyway. I enjoy it. My youngest son died a year and a half ago. He was born on Christmas day in 1982. I have made it my deepest desire to hold him again one day and I know it will happen. ‘Til then I am quite content and at peace with the knowledge that Ben is with his savior, just as I will be one fine day. We serve a mighty God. He has promised to “be with us always, even until the end of the age.” God bless you my friend. I am 70.
