What are your favorite Christmas movies? Please include heartwarming family-friendly movies even if they are not specifically Christmas-oriented.
I would include a recent classic, Christmas Oranges, and favorites from better eras like The Bishop's Wife, Christmas in Connecticut, Miracle on 34th Street, A Christmas Carol, Its A Wonderful Life, Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer, Santa Claus Is Coming To Town, Frosty The Snowman, and A Charlie Brown Christmas.
What would you add to that list?
LOL!! Perfect movie.
Just finished watching that one.
Yes he did, although I believe he was injured while flying around the room by the cables.
My favorite song is “I Hate People” - Finney is just superb throughout it:
Humbug! Poppycock, balderdash - ahh
scavengers and sychophants and flatterers and fools,
Pharisees and parasites, and hypocrites and ghouls,
calculating swindlers pervaricating frauds,
perpetrating evil as they roam the earth in hordes,
feeding on their fellow men, reaping rich rewards,
contaminating everything they see,
corrupting honest men, like me.
I hate people. I hate people.
People are dispicable creatures,
loathesome inexplicable creatures,
good for nothing, kickable creatures
I hate people! I abhor them.
When I see the indigent classes,
sitting on their infinite asses,
gulping ale from insolent glasses
I hate peope! I detest them, I deplore them.
Fools who have no money spend it,
get in debts then try to end it,
beg me on their knees befriend them,
knowing I have cash to lend them.
Soft hearted me, hard working me,
clean living, thrifty, and kind as can be,
situations like this are of interest to me.
I hate people I loathe people,
I despise them, abominate people..
Move over!
Life is full of credulous wretches,
earning what their sweatulence fetches,
empty minds whose petulence stretches
further than I can see.
Little wonder,
I hate people,
and I don’t care if they hate me.
My second favorite of the flick. And second quoted. I enjoy finney’s Oblivious participation to his own death march and the timing of the cheers to his speech... they love me.
Hehehe.
Well, as I said, I’d probably get famed for saying this.
I like the alternative universe thing like “Back to the Future” and other stuff.
But for me, the self-pity thing gags me and eclipses Jimmy Stewart’s other character traits.
“Time and chance” my FRiend.
BTW, you’re moniker is in the running for best New Year’s Eve song.

Miracle on 34th Street
A classie. Would not be Christmas for me without seeing it.
I love the cane in the house at the end.
Jimmy Stewart was great.
I hope you liked it!
That’s the one!
Love it.
We watch it every year.
““Mr. Potter receives no negative consequences for his theft of the money.”
Nice little bit of trivia.”

Well, to be fair, the money was given to him.
Uncle “somebody” handed it to him by mistake.
“Donovan’s Reef” (1963)
John Wayne Lee Marvin Ceasar Romero to name a few.

“Donovan’s Reef” (1963)
This is my favorite movie ever.
That movie is OK, but the book was better.
Magoo’s Christmas Carol
Mine, too - Christmas Story. I also love Holiday Inn.
