For context in these trying times. THIS is the Andromeda Galaxy, our nearest galactic neighbor. To Scale against a terrestrial backdrop as it would appear without the light pollution and if we had more powerful eyes.

That galaxy (Andromeda) is supposedly racing towards our Milky Way galaxy at some ridiculously fast rate. However, it’s so darn far away (2.2 million light years, or 2.2 million x 5.9 TRILLION miles) that it will take about 4.5 BILLION years to get here. And by that time the Sun will have gone into its “Red Giant” phase and likely consumed the Earth! So, in any event, we’re doooomed!!!!!!!
