Great news. Glad you haven’t experienced any complications/side effects. Thank you for the first person view of things.
My 86 year old mom has had a couple of heart attacks and is generally just slowing down. She seems to have had a reaction to this year’s flu shot that left her lethargic and with aches and pains for close to a week.
Any downside to her getting either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines?
It makes me sad/mad that Trump will get no credit for his efforts in fighting the pandemic and especially with the vaccines.
I have heard several times on Youtube presentations by European health experts that the development of these vaccines is nothing short of miraculous, and largely due to the huge amounts of money the U.S. (that is, the Trump administration) committed to development and contracts for buying the vaccines. A lot of the rest of the Western countries are largely riding on the coattails of our financial commitments to fight this and benefiting from Trump’s efforts. You will never hear that on the U.S. media.
When we had a surge in cases in our state and our testing regimen at the local level was demonstrated to be a total farce (the State Health Department had been claiming it had hundreds of contact tracers and then it was revealed it had less than 10 and those people were overwhelmed), Trump was immediately on the phone with our governor and then the Trump administration sent the Surgeon General to Hawaii with federal assistance in terms of a huge amount of surge testing and contact tracing which was able to bring the curve back down. This is a state which basically craps on Trump every chance it gets, but Trump didn’t hold any of that against us.

Fauci wants to remain King of the World, if not God whose word may not be challenged.
Have you ever seen a government or bureaucrat ever willingly give up power?
“...Yes I have been checked for antibodies — they have been negative. Recalling that antibodies only exist in a narrow window of six weeks. Per our occupational health, having had the illness is not a contraindication to vaccination. If one considers being vaccinated after wild type illness, it simply becomes a booster.....”
Thank you so much for the great information and update.
The above post was kinda what I was looking for. I’m a 70-year old male with no underlying conditions that contracted it back in September. As soon as I started having symptoms, I got tested...positive. It was 12 days of misery but I made it through. I fought it with vitamins C, D3, K2, Quercetin, zinc citrate, and NAC...and a lot of Tylenol and DripDrop Hydration powder for dehydration. It never did get deep into my lungs...thank the Lord, but it was a pretty miserable fever, muscle aches galore, diarrhea...well, being a doc treating this nasty stuff, you definitely know all the symptoms.
So IF I’m reading the above correctly, any natural antibodies that I may have developed as a result of having this, only last about 6 weeks or so....meaning I could contract it again? And getting the vaccine would be a booster to any antibodies that I may have left?
Keep me posted as well. . .make a ping list if you need to, may help letting people know what’s the latest with you.
God bless you, doc.
No I dont think so. I would probably (anecdotally) get her the moderna. In our state, there will be an exponential explosion of vaccination next week if Moderna gets EUA. Currently only five hospitals in our state have the super deep freeze technology required. That being said, there have been around 20,000 vaccines given.
With Moderna there I no need for deep cold temperatures. Moderna will be distributed to 188 hospitals next week per governor order. My suspicion is as a matter of logistics Moderna may be the one your mom receives.
I wasn’t allowed to say anything until today, but it’s now okay for me to share that I have volunteered for the Covid-19 vaccine from Pfizer. The vaccine is the one that has been developed in Russia. It is in 6 different stages and I received my first dose this morning at 06:20 am, and I wanted to let you all know that it is safe and I’m ok, with иo side effects whatsoeveя, and that I feelshκι я чувю себя немного стрно и я думю, что вытл осные уши. чувству себя немго страо. Comrade.
I will honor your desire for anonymity etc on this issue Dr. But I must admit, this discription sounds almost "Dr Z"-ish.
No — what we have discovered is the antibodies from the acute phase disease only stay around 3 months or so. But there is excellent basic science literature to demonstrate that there is T-cell (memory) immunity. This is a big deal. This is what confers life long immunity. If after 3 months people were again susceptible we would see it all over the place and particularly the media as it would be used to eviscerate President trump.
There have been rare reports of possible reinfection, all of which are disproved
The vaccine itself is 95% effective precisely because it generates T-cell immunity. That was the most exciting finding in Phase II and III clinical trials.
I advised my 80 something year old mother who had the wild type disease not to bother getting vaccinated.
I love that post!
You read the stitches on the fast ball quite well. There was a modification a couple of months ago hypothetically speaking that may have changes the Z-ish rx possibly to one of more iver nature.
You might want to rethink those shots if you start thinking about the word defenestration.
Or you’ve been beat-up by life for too long and a mere shot is nothing. . .
;-)
‘I will continue to update how I feel, and the next round in early January’
this is one of the most interesting posts I have read in a long time; I expressly thank you for sharing it...
About half the people I sent this to, thought I was serious.......it’s a joke.
So was mine. Russians have a way of dealing with people that involves windows.
” cannot for the life of me figure out a ping list”
It is merely a list that you maintain as a text file on your computer and then copy into the To line when needed.
Nothing magical about it as it might seem. There really isn’t such as thing as a ping list.
