Senate Republicans are sending a clear message to President Trump: The election is over and Joe Biden won.
While Trump is digging in and showing little sign of ending his public campaign despite a long losing streak in the courts, GOP senators - from leadership on down - are signaling they view the election result as settled and want to move on without a messy weeks-long fight.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) publicly congratulated Biden during a Senate floor speech, in his first public acknowledgement of the former vice president's victory.
He subsequently urged Senate Republicans during a caucus call, which was quickly leaked to the media, not to object to the election results on Jan. 6, as Rep. Mo Brooks (R-Ala.) has said he's looking for a GOP senator to join him on his plan to contest the Electoral College count.
McConnell's remarks in the call reflected two truths: that he and other GOP Senate leaders want an end to the fight, and that they are worried that House Republicans are ready to keep it going. If a single GOP senator joins Brooks, it would ensure a vote by both chambers of Congress that would divide Republicans and publicly force them to vote against Trump, which the Senate's top Republicans seem keen to avoid.
Sen. Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), an adviser to McConnell, said it was the "explicit feeling" of Senate GOP leadership that it was time to accept the results of the Electoral College, which formally certified Biden's win on Monday, and move on.

RINOs and Never Trumpers are standing up for their swamp buds. Trump is not a DC corruptocrat. He crashed their America for sale party and they want him gone, period.
He is a true American President and if we don’t stand behind him he may very well be the last one.
> “Why get mad at the media for reporting that Republican senators want Trump gone?”
Here’s why:
A few GOP Senators are publicly stating to “Move On”.
A few GOP Senators are moving toward objecting to Electors (Johnson, Paul, Loeffler, Tuberville)
The rest of the GOP Senators are sitting on the fence but are catching hell each day from Constituents as half the country is in a rage that the election was stolen.
THE SHILL is a group of DC Swamp lizards that think they are better than you, and they want to be important but can’t be with Trump in ‘their town’ as President. So they post a lame story entitled “Senate GOP to Trump: The election is over” when it is in fact the SHILLS that are projecting that wishful thinking.
Got it now?
Believe me, your morning yawn is worth more than anything The Hill has to offer.
Now look what you did:
> “I don’t like the media either, but there’s nothing wrong with this story”
You equate ‘The Hill’ with the ‘media’. they are not even a pimple on the butt of the ‘media’.
Now ask yourself why you give such people the time of day?
Growing up in DC, I lived next to Len Downie Jr. He let me play his Beatles LPs on his stereo turntable. He was an Ok guy but he and others in his world think they know everything, they don’t but they have deadlines so they make stuff up. Like Ronald Reagan said, “The trouble with our Liberal friends is not that they’re ignorant; it’s just that they know so much that isn’t so.”
When I saw this thread posted on FR, I didn’t click in to get any ‘news’. From experience I know there isn’t going to be any news from the Hill. These guys scan the internet like we do here and look for an angle on a story to twist to their own purposes and they make up a lot of fiction in the process. They don’t break news. So why do I click on such threads? Because I want to see if people on FR are getting smart. And I’m happy to say many FR participants are very, very smart.
Thanks to you, we know the disastrous outcome of Obama-Biden and now Biden-Harris.
No matter how hard you try to pretend you did the right thing by not voting Romney we can only conclude for sure, you're vote for Obama-Biden is instrumental in screwing us good.
Congratulations dimwit.
“The House and Senate will divide for two hours (at least) to debate, then vote. The vote will be per Senator with the Vice President being the deciding vote if needed in the Senate, while the vote in the House will be only be ONE vote per delegation, per state, not per House member!!! The Republicans have 30 delegation votes compared to the Democrats 20 delegation votes.”
I think this is wrong, because it’s not what happened in 2005. There was one vote by simple majority on whether to accept or nullify Ohio’s electoral votes when they were challenged by one Representative and one Senator.
https://www.cnn.com/2005/ALLPOLITICS/01/06/electoral.vote/
“Alleging widespread ‘irregularities’ on Election Day, a group of Democrats in Congress objected earlier Thursday to the counting of Ohio’s 20 electoral votes.
“The challenge was defeated 267-31 by the House and 74-1 by the Senate, clearing the way for the joint session to count the votes from the remaining states.”
If the vote had gone in favor of nullifying the electoral votes, then the vote in the House for the President would have been by delegation votes rather than than individual votes.
I don’t know of any reason why the process would be different in 2021. Is there a reason?
"...we fight on land, sea, and air..."
Voters to McConnell: your an agent of the CCP & your wife’s ties to the Communist Chinese Government need to be investigated.....

Soon: (from Motch) “If you overturn the election and win a second term, if the House votes to impeach you again, the Senate will convict and remove you. So give it up.”
My take.
Trump or bust. Not going to stay with in a party with the surrender caucus. Millions believe the same way. Trump built the big tent, not the surrender caucus. If they don’t fight for him, we will leave.
Cruz is not natural born.
Well said!
Neither is Harris nor was Obama. “Natural Born” doesn’t mean that you first saw the light of day in one of the fifty states. Rather, it has to do with the citizenship status of your parents. Neither of Harris’ parents were citizens and although Obama was probably physically born in Hawaii, his father was a British citizen, since he lived in Kenya which at that time was still part of the British Empire.
Not all the Senate feels that way.
I like the cut of your gyb.
I favor the appelation AmericaFirst.
Cruz is not NBC, but that only matters to constitutionalists. I myself wish to see hm on the SCOTUS, serving for an entire lifetime rather than just 8 years.
There you are right. To this day I don’t understandwhy Wray is still there. Why barr was not fired after it became known that he quashed the hunter Biden investigation until after the election. Guess like Flynn, trumps family was also threatened as I notice they are all laying low now.
Good words, hostage. And your profile is entriguing.
When do you get to retire and exit the closet as a conservative?
Where do we leave to? We need to restart the AmericaFirst party.
